divina art has been organising its own school projects for many years. These competitions are designed to familiarise pupils with art and handicrafts in a creative way. The theme changes every year.
School Project 2025

„Strauss. Johann Strauss“
In 2025, composer Johann Strauss would have celebrated his 200th birthday. For this reason, many events and celebrations are being held in his honour, especially in Vienna.
We at ART ADVENT, the Christmas market in front of Vienna's Karlskirche, would also like to contribute to this, with your assistance.
Imagine hearing the cheerful waltz melodies, seeing the dancers in colourful dresses gliding across the dance floor and feeling the whole of Vienna laughing and dancing to the beat – Johann Strauss brought all this to life in his music.
Now it's your turn: use brushes and paints to show visitors to the Advent market in front of St. Charles's Church how you imagine the world of Johann Strauss!
Perhaps you will paint the famous composer himself, perhaps a concert in the Golden Hall, or your very own fantasy world full of music and rhythm.
Or you could try to imagine how Johann Strauss would live and compose today.
Perhaps you could listen to his music in class while designing the posters or go on an excursion related to him.
Your drawings should convey how much joy music can bring. It's not about drawing perfectly – it's about bringing your ideas to life on canvas in a creative and unique way.
Grab your brushes and paints and let Johann Strauss speak through your pictures!
We are already looking forward to seeing your pictures in full size on our ART ADVENT school project island.
As always, Divina art will provide tarpaulins, paints and brushes.
Interested teachers can register their class to participate from 15 September 2025, 9 a.m. onwards using the online registration form: https://bit.ly/44x7ezX
We look forward to your participation.

Some information about Johann Strauss:
Johann Strauss was a classical composer from Austria. He is known as the ‘Waltz King’ because he composed many famous waltzes. These are cheerful pieces of music that people dance to. His most famous pieces are ‘Wiener Blut’ and ‘An der schönen blauen Donau’. His music is often played and is always part of the Vienna New Year's Concert.
His father, who had the same name, was also a famous composer. That is why the two are usually referred to as Johann Strauss Senior and Johann Strauss Junior to distinguish between them.
Johann Strauss Jr. was born in Vienna in 1825. He wrote songs as a small child and learned to play the violin. His father actually wanted Johann to become a civil servant. However, his mother sent him to a music school, where his talent was nurtured.
Later, Johann began to earn money by giving concerts. Over time, more and more people came to his concerts. Later, he conducted the Viennese court balls, to which Emperor Franz Joseph I invited guests. Strauss became rich and famous during his lifetime thanks to his music.
School Project 2024
"Winter in Vienna"
‘Winter - not just one of the four seasons,
Each of us has certain ideas and memories
memories about it, be it Christmas
the turn of the year, holidays, etc.’
„Winter in Wien“ ist ein Titel, der vieles umfassen kann.
Es handelt sich dabei nicht nur um die (manchmal) kalte Jahreszeit, sondern auch viele Fixpunkte eines Jahres fallen in diesen Zeitraum. Sei es Nikolo, Halloween, Weihnachten und die Ferien oder auch der Jahreswechsel.
Jeder von uns knüpft daran bestimmte Erinnerungen oder Erwartungen an die Zukunft.
Was all the snow in Vienna in previous years really that great?
What do the many tourists to Vienna expect from a winter in Vienna?
Are you looking forward to tobogganing or snowball fights if it snows enough this year? Or do you prefer to stay warm indoors in winter?
I'm sure you can think of many more examples of what ‘Winter in Vienna’ means to you and how you depict and paint it.
The Wien Museum, right next to the Karlskirche and next to our Advent market, is hosting a special exhibition entitled ‘Winter in Vienna’ from 14 November 2024 to 16 March 2025. Perhaps this exhibition will invite you to visit right away if the students have already thought about the topic.
We are already looking forward to seeing your pictures in full size on our ART ADVENT school project island.
ART ADVENT invites all students from Vienna to paint a contribution on the theme “Winter in Vienna”.
As always, Divina art provides tarpaulins, paints and brushes.
Interested teachers have the opportunity to register their class for participation from 9.9.2024, 10h via the online registration form: https://bit.ly/44x7ezX
We look forward to your participation.

School projects review
Das war das Schulprojekt 2023
‘Peace is not just the absence of violence,
but the presence of justice.’

The following participants won on the topic of ‘Daydreams’:
They are often surprising, daydreams often come unexpectedly and if you let yourself in for them, they are a wonderful change, an escape from everyday life. Sometimes they bring a smile to our faces or make us marvel.
Sometimes we just need a short break and as André Heller sang so beautifully: ‘The real adventures are in the head’
ART ADVENT has invited all pupils from Vienna to paint a contribution on the theme of ‘Daydreams’.
As always, Divina art provided canvases, colours and brushes.

This year, we want to stroll through worlds great and small together on the ART ADVENT school project island.
AR ADVENT hat alle SchülerInnen aus Wien eingeladen, einen Beitrag zum Thema „Weltenbummler“ zu malen.
